Video Poker
Casinos around the United States and other parts of the world have found that when it comes to their electronic based game offerings, Video Poker is almost always one of the most popular. While it is a fairly new type of game in terms of those offered in casinos, Video Poker is very simple to play and often does not require a large wager so it is a very accessible game that many of those new to casinos prefer to try out before they attempt the more expensive and possibly intimidating table games where their lack of experience might end up being more evident. This game first came out when the price of TV style monitors and solid state electronic computing technology finally lowered in price during the middle of the 70’s. Once this happened, video games took off and Video Poker was among those games. Its ease of play has made it a star and the fact that players will be able to play through a hand quickly has also helped it achieve quite a dedicated following, as well. The most common form of Video Poker is based on the Five Card Draw style of poker, but there are other varieties found in casinos, especially those which are primarily based online. Another interesting fact about Video Poker machines is that they can often be found outside of casinos in places where they are legal such as truck stops or convenience stores in Nevada.
One of the big selling points for the Video Poker machines is the rapid pace of the game and this is due to the fact that today, instead of having to carry around piles of coins or tokens, players are able to buy credits to play games on barcoded tickets which they simply slide into the machines. Once they hit the deal button, the computer draws five cards from them and they can select which they wish to keep and which they prefer to have replaced. The goal, like in five card draw poker at a standard casino table, is to beat the dealer’s hand. If players can do this and have at least a pair of Jacks then they will receive a pay out.
