Add-on – A term used in poker to mean buying extra chips in a tournament, but not all poker tournaments offer this.
Arm – This is a term given to a craps player who appears to be particularly skilled at the throwing of dice in such a way that they can somehow control the way that the dice roll. The actuality of a person such as this existing is disputed so it is most likely a legend.
Call – A declaration by a poker player that they intend to match the current bet in place at their table.
Doubling-up – This is the foundation in different wagering systems designed to give players an edge over the house. The idea is that after a loss the player will double the size of their bet in the hopes of winning back the money they lost and winning a profit.
Down Card – A card laid face down on the felt at a casino table.
Down to the Felt – This means that a player has no money left, similar to tapping out.
Firing – This is the process of placing a great many bets, generally in quite large sums.
First Base – In a game of blackjack, the person on the left hand side of the dealer is said to be in the first base position because they are the first person who gets dealt to.
Fish – A player who is losing money, the opposite of a shark.
Loose – This is the way that slot machines which reward with large sums of money are described.
Natural – In the game of blackjack, any combination of cards adding up to 21 are called this.
Progressive – Slot machines that are networked together often have a jackpot that is separate from each individual machine and adds a small percentage to it over time as the players pay to play. This jackpot grows over time, hence it progresses.
Slot Walking – This is the act of wandering around a casino checking slot machines for extra coins.
Smart Cashiers – Similar to an ATM, this is a money changing machine that lets players put money onto smart cards that the casino gives them.
Snake Eyes – By rolling a two with two dice, you get this configuration so known because the small beads resemble a snake’s eyes and this is negative for the better.
Spot – A keno expression used to indicate any of the numbers up to 80 that a player has chosen to mark on their card.
Straight Keno – This is the typical version of the card that is just players picking numbers on tickets.
System – A specific style of betting that normally incorporates math so that the person doing the betting might have some form of advantage over the casino. Normally focuses on how the bets should be placed.
Underlay – A bet that does not or is not going to work out in the player’s favor. In other words, it is anything where what is wagered that it will happen is far greater than the odds that it will take place.
Web Wallet – This is a piece of software that is used by players in online casinos to make transactions that assist them in using the casino. Generally highly secure and designed to be simple to use to make deposits and withdrawals.
White meat – A term used to describe earning a profit.
Withdrawal – The act of transferring money from a casino into ones hands in a land casino or bank account in an online casino.
